Karen Nern, MD

Dr. Karen Nern is a Colorado native. She is a Board Certified Dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon. She has expertise in general and pediatric dermatology. She performs Mohs micrographic surgery, and has extensive experience treating both benign and malignant skin growths. She also performs many cosmetic procedures, including Botox®, Juvederm™, Voluma™,  Kybella™, and chemical peels. As of December 2015, Dr. Karen Nern has transitioned her personal practice to surgery and cosmetic procedures only.

Meet Dr. Karen Nern

Drew Taylor, MD

Dr. Drew Taylor is a board-certified dermatologist that has a passion for patient advocacy, skin cancer prevention, and positively impacting patients’ body image and self-esteem. He takes pride in helping his patients feel more beautiful, confident, youthful, and self-assured. Dr. Taylor’s formal educational training includes:

Dr. Taylor has received numerous awards throughout his training and has authored several scientific papers and book chapters in general and procedural dermatology. He is a Fellowship trained Mohs surgeon having performed thousands of cases along with their advanced reconstruction. He also specializes in facial rejuvenation including cosmetic laser technology, Botox®, fillers, platelet-rich-plasma, sclerotherapy, blepharoplasty, and tumescent liposuction. His training in reconstructive and cosmetic dermatologic surgery allows him to create excellent, individually tailored results while harnessing the full potential of the rapidly evolving, innovative technology in the field of aesthetics.

In his spare time, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs. He is passionate about family, delicious food, traveling the world, the outdoors, and competing in CrossFit. is an active member of the American Medical Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology

Meet Dr. Drew TayloR

D. Winslow Blankenship, MD

Originally from Maysville, Kentucky, Dr. D. Winslow Blankenship grew up as the third generation in her family to visit the Vail Valley for annual ski vacations. Dr. Blankenship earned a degree in Spanish and Chemistry at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She then spent the following years in Washington, DC where she attended Georgetown University School of Medicine.  She remained in DC for her medical internship and dermatology residency, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year.  As a resident, she was also recognized for her passion for teaching as she was nominated for the prestigious “String of Pearls” medical student teaching award.

Dr. Blankenship is passionate skin cancer awareness, early detection and treatment.  She also performs cosmetic procedures including Botox®, chemical peels, and filler for facial rejuvenation. She particularly enjoys that practicing dermatology allows her to care both pediatric and adult patients and finds great reward in the management of acne and other medical dermatologic conditions.

Dr. Blankenship and her husband, Ross, are excited to be Colorado residents and raise their two daughters here in the Valley.  They will be fourth generation Vail skiers!

Meet Dr. D. Winslow Blankenship

Pauline Reohr, MD

Dr. Reohr's first position out of residency was Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Dartmouth Medical School in Vermont for 2 years. After that, she then moved to the Boston area. For the past 23 years she has practiced dermatology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. She has continued clinical teaching during that time as Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Tufts University Medical School and as Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School. She was named to Boston Magazine’s list of top doctors in Boston in 2016 and 2017.  She has experience evaluating and treating all types of skin diseases, tumors, and skin complaints.

Dr. Reohr and her husband are excited to relocate to the Roaring Fork Valley and explore all the area holds. She also hopes to become a better skier, mountain biker, and fly fisherman so that she can keep up with their 3 young adult sons who plan to visit often.

Julia Kreger, MD

Originally from the state of Washington, Dr. Kreger was raised in the small town of Ridgefield. After graduating from Northwestern University, she was a researcher in the study of neuroscience before entering medical school at the University of New Mexico. While in medical school Dr. Kreger was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and finished at the top of her medical class. Her dermatology residency training took her to Denver, CO where she pursued interests in surgical and general dermatology. During her residency she was elected by her peers into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for her commitment to excellent patient care and served on the Board of the Colorado Dermatology Society and the University of Colorado Hospital Ethics Committee.

Dr. Kreger’s practice focuses on skin cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment as well as improving the aesthetics of patients’ skin. She believes it is important to listen carefully to patients to best understand their goals for skin health.

Dr. Kreger is an avid outdoorswoman, having climbed 88 of Colorado’s Centennial Peaks. She enjoys skiing, long distance running, and spending time with her black lab named Sam.

Kirsten Kuhn, PA-C

Kirsten strives to provide high-quality dermatologic care to patients of all ages. She is passionate about preventing and detecting skin cancer, and enjoys helping people look their best and learn to protect their skin. Kirsten earned her PA degree from the School of Medicine at OHSU in Portland. Prior to attending graduate school, she worked along side Dr. Nern as a Medical Assistant for 2 years and is thrilled to return to the mountains as a member of the Vail | Aspen | Breckenridge Dermatology team. In her free time, Kirsten enjoys skiing, cycling, and trail running.

    Claire Mann, NP-C is an experienced Nurse Practitioner with a background in Dermatology and wound care.  She is an experienced cosmetic injector and has trained with Dr. Karen Nern to gain expertise in cosmetic procedures such as Botox, Juvederm, Kybella and medical procedures such as skin cancer detection, acne, eczema and rashes. Claire values patient satisfaction and wants to ensure that every patient feels well taken care of. She enjoys all the activities that Colorado has to offer.
